Foodies prepping for Picnic in the Park
10 Feb 2010

Food and wine lovers will gather this Labour Day long weekend at the base of Mt Buller for the annual Picnic in the Park culinary festival on Sunday 7th March.

Held in the picturesque Mirimbah Park from 11am - 5pm, Picnic in the Park will enable visitors to experience the beauty of the High Country in autumn and sample quality local produce from an excellent array of stallholders, including local wineries and breweries, gourmet food producers and eateries and even day spas.

"Mirimbah is the perfect location for an event like Picnic in the Park. The Delatite River runs right by the park and there's plenty of grass to put down a rug and enjoy beautiful food and wine," said Katie Bowker, Event Coordinator, Mt Buller and Mt Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board. "People of all ages and interests will be entertained by a number of excellent musicians in two entertainment areas located by the riverside and on the main stage."

A complimentary bus will ferry picnic-goers from Mt Buller to Mirimbah Park and back - a wonderful opportunity to take a look around the beautiful alpine Village or make the most of the accommodation packages available on the mountain. Highlights of the day will include a cooking demonstration from Mt Buller's Black Cockatoo Restaurant, fresh homemade pasta from Pinnacle Valley Resort, plus mini facials, manicures and massages from Cinnamon Stix Day Spa.

The Labour Day long weekend is a busy one in the Mansfield-Mt Buller region, with another popular attraction being the famous Merrijig Rodeo happening on the Saturday night. The Rodeo offers an old-fashioned good time, where people can take in the local characters and cowboys and check out the range of rodeo events showcasing some of Australia's best riders.

Entry to Picnic in the Park is just $10, which includes a souvenir wine glass and a glass of wine. For further details on the event, contact 03 5777 6077 or info@mtbuller.com.au. For accommodation packages, contact 1800 BULLER or reservations@mtbuller.com.au.
