The Mansfield-Mt Buller region will be home to a brand new motoring event in 2010, with the announcement of international tarmac rally Targa High Country to be held over three days on November 5-7. The announcement was made by event management group Octagon, also responsible for XXXX Gold Beach Cricket, Australasian Safari and Targa Tasmania, during the Targa Wrest Point event in Hobart.
Targa High Country will consist of a street stage in Mansfield on the Friday evening followed by closed-road competition stages on the Saturday and Sunday to Mt Buller, Jamieson, Eildon and the King Valley. The competition concept is drawn from international events including the Mille Miglia, the Coupe des Alpes and the Tour de Course, giving drivers the opportunity to experience the exciting and challenging roads in the Mansfield-Mt Buller region.
Mt Buller and Mt Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board CEO John Huber is proud to support the event and to welcome Targa High Country to the area. "Securing the Targa High Country event is a significant achievement for the Mansfield-Mt Buller region. This event will help drive summer visitation throughout the area and provide a boost to businesses through local and international tourism", Huber said.
"We look forward to the event becoming a major tourist attraction for the High Country and providing excellent opportunities to showcase all that the Mansfield-Mt Buller region has to offer."
Targa High Country is an excellent addition to Mt Buller's comprehensive summer event and activity program. For further information, visit mtbuller.com.au.
