The Mt Buller and Mt Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board recognises that development, and therefore construction, is necessary for the continued success of the Resort. However, it must also be acknowledged that construction can have a considerable impact on the environment that needs to be managed carefully with regard to the sensitive alpine environment.
The Department of Planning and Community Development’s Alpine Planning Unit (based in Melbourne) is the responsible authority for planning within the Resort. Developers or builders planning works at Mt Buller are encouraged to consult with Resort Management from the earliest possible stage to ensure their project runs smoothly. Resort Management staff have considerable experience and expertise and can provide guidance on planning, building and environment matters relating to construction on the mountain.
