Over the years, particularly as the Village at Mt Buller has grown, much of the native flora has been cleared or replaced. Some exotic plants were introduced to the Village for ornamental reasons, but not to the same extent as other alpine resorts. In 2005, the Board endorsed an exotic plant policy to discourage the establishment of non-native plants within the Resort. It is important to try and restore the native flora, particularly around the Village. Native vegetation provides habitat for animals, screens buildings and adds to the aesthetics of the Resort in general.
