Introduced Fauna

Environment>Fauna>Introduced Fauna

Introduced species include wild Dogs, Foxes, feral Cats, European Rabbits, Sambar Deer, Hares, Common Starlings, Black Rats and House Mice. These species are likely to occur throughout the Resort area. The Mt Buller and Mt Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board is responsible for controlling these species. Foxes and cats are considered significant threats, particularly to the survival of the Mountain Pygmy-possum that they are known to prey on. An Integrated Pest Animal Control Program is implemented year-round across the Resort.

Domestic dogs are not allowed to enter the Resort without a permit. Cats are not permitted within the Resort at any time. The aim of these regulations is to ensure that a clean, friendly and safe environment is maintained for Mt Buller's wildlife and year round visitors.
