'One Flew over the Buller Nest'                Colin Hyett

2nd - 16th September 2017

Exhibition lauch
Come and celebreate the opening with Colin Hyett on Saturday 2nd September 2017, 5pm - 7pm. Alpine Central, Mt Buller.

This exhibition will be Colin’s second on Mount Buller having been the artist in residence for 2016 where he exhibited an almost sell out show inspired by the fashion trends of the slopes. This year Colin is taking inspiration from the atmospheric changes that dramatically alter the landscape of Mount Buller. Living this year at Bombora overlooking The Bluff, Colin has been astonished by the dramatic views from his Winter home. Living among the trees Colin has also been inspired by the indigenous Alpine birds studying them and often painting them directly from his balcony.

At 41 Colin Hyett has developed a strong reputation as an innovative and creative landscape designer throughout the Mornington Peninsula for the past 12 years. Colin has established a unique branding and artistic flavour to his design; allowing the fusion of contemporary aesthetic with hardy species that accentuate and tolerate the Australian Climate.

Unlike most landscape designers Colin Hyett has approached the industry from a visual arts background. Colin studied Fine Arts Painting and Sculpture at Monash University and completed his degree in 2005 with Honours. While undertaking his degree, Colin worked as a pastry chef for the renowned, Herman Schneider at Arthurs Restaurant. He was then appointed Head Pastry Chef at the highly respected The Rocks, Mornington where he specialized in wedding cakes and a la cart desserts. Although Colin has finished creating beautiful desserts, he has continued his passion for art and has held many solo art exhibitions; the most recent at Manyung Gallery, Mount Eliza.
