MASSIVE WEEKEND ON THE MOUNTAIN

12 August 2017

It’s shaping up to be a weekend that you CAN NOT miss! With 75cms of fresh snow this week, giving us a total of over 130cm in snowmaking areas, and over a metre of natural in other areas, it’s time to get the ski wax out and pack the car, or book your coach ticket and get on up.

There’s 22 lifts (that’s ALL our lifts) scheduled to run, so if you can find any spare time after you’ve ticked off every run on the mountain, try some of these activities.

Mt Buller Slopestyle

What about checking out the radical skills of the park stars in the Mt Buller Skyline Park as they compete in the 2017 Mt Buller Slopestyle event. If you’ve never seen a ‘gap to frontside boardslide’ or a ‘backslide blunt 270’ now is your chance! Click here for more info.

Wadaiko Drumming

Down in the Village Square there’ll be action aplenty too. The thundering drums of the Wadaiko Rindo Traditional Japanese Drumming group will sound out across the Village, creating a stunning aural and visual display. Click here for more info.

Buller and Beyond - Tony 'Harro' Harrington

If something cultural is more your style after a day smashing every run on the mountain, on Saturday evening there’s the launch of an incredible photo exhibition ‘Buller and Beyond’ by local star Tony ‘Harro’ Harrington, in the Alpine Central reception centre, featuring large-scale limited editions prints of his work (click here for more info). This will be followed by the infamous Mt Buller Short Film Festival Gala Screening in the Mt Buller Cinema (click here for more info).

Junior National Mogul Championships

On Sunday the ‘tricky’ kids of mogul and aerial ski disciplines will compete on Chamois Run (home-ground to world champions) in the Junior National Mogul Championships –‘ J-Nats’ for short (click here for more info), while ladies who love to ski will join 5 time world champion Jacqui Cooper for a day of instruction and fun (click here for more info).

Twilight Sessions

And don’t think it finishes there! Weekends are way longer on Buller, with the Blue Bullet chairlift running until 8.30pm on Saturday and Sunday evening for skiing, boarding and lessons. The Village Square keep humming into the evening with live entertainment and marshmallow toasting, while the lights stay up on the Village Toboggan Slope until 8.30pm. Day visitor resort entry purchased after 3pm is discounted by 30%, and day visitors shuttles run until 9.30pm.

So if you can find some time amongst getting your turns, there’s a whole lot more to keep you busy on top of the world this weekend.
