Planting Locally Indiginuous Plants

 Over the years, particularly as the Village at Mt Buller has grown, much of the native flora has been cleared or replaced. Some exotic plants were introduced to the Village for ornamental reasons, but not to the same extent as other alpine resorts. In 2005, the Board endorsed an exotic plant policy to discourage the establishment of non-native plants within the Resort. It is important to try and restore the native flora, particularly around the Village. Native vegetation provides habitat for animals, screens buildings and adds to the aesthetics of the Resort in general. Whether you are a developer, lodge or business owner or a resident, the Mt Buller/Mt Stirling Planting Guide contains all the information you need to know about planting native species. This guide was developed by the Mt Buller and Mt Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board in collaboration with La Trobe University.
