4-Site Australia is contracted by Mt Buller and Mt Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board to provide waste management services. This includes regular pickup of garbage and recyclables and transfer to the appropriate re-processing centre. In conjunction with the Mt Buller and Mt Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board, 4-Site Australia have developed a household waste and recycling collection system that is simple and effective. Here’s how it works:
At home, separate all recyclables from rubbish (if you aren’t sure if something is recyclable contact the Environmental Officer on 03 5777 6077).
Put rubbish into black garbage bags.
Put all recyclables into the purpose made clear plastic recycling bags provided by 4-Site Australia and the Mt Buller and Mt Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board. These are available from all village garbage huts or by calling 4-Site Australia on 0427 411 418.
Put full rubbish bags and recycling bags in the nearest garbage hut (located conveniently around the Village). Please ensure each bag is securely fastened and do not overfill bags.
4-Site Australia staff visit each hut every day during winter and less frequently in summer. Rubbish and recycling bags are collected in the same vehicle and taken back to the Boggy Corner Recycling Depot.
At the Boggy Corner Recycling Depot rubbish is placed in a compacter unit. Recyclables are separated into individual materials (eg. Glass, plastic, paper, aluminium etc).
Rubbish is transported in compactor truck to Albury landfill.
Recyclables are taken to various reprocessing facilities.
Please help us by separating your garbage and recycling. The strength of this system is that it is simple, but it requires diligence on your behalf. It is not difficult to separate rubbish from recyclables and a small effort on your behalf can make a big difference to the amount of waste we take to landfill.
