National Alpine Museum


Marvel at an eclectic collection of ski memorabilia at the National Alpine Museum.

Located in Alpine Central on level 1 (downstairs), NAMA – the National Alpine Museum of Australia is the only accredited National museum dedicated to conserving & preserving the history of the evolution of the Australian ski fields, telling the amazing stories of the characters that built our Alpine communities.

 

Host to an extensive collection of artefacts from all over Alpine Australia, NAMA showcases everything from wooden skis, fashion, publications, maps, photographs & films to historic lift equipment & memorabilia.  NAMA’s collection, displays & special exhibitions are constantly changing through the winter season.

 

Curious about Mt Buller’s unique history? Get to know the pioneers & innovators who helped it transform from an alpine cattleman's run into a leading Australian alpine community & resort that it is today.

 

Location: 1st floor of Alpine Central

 

Cost: Entry is free – we welcome donations!

 

Winter Hours: Daily 12:30pm – 5pm during the winter season.

Mt Buller Book

Mt Buller - The Story of a Mountain is a gorgeous coffee table book that relives the history of Victoria's very own Mt Buller.

 

Written by Jim Darby and with over 700 photographs edited by Mark Ashkanasy, the Mt Buller Book is a fascinating insight into the ski lift companies, ski patrol, ski schools, clubs and mountain identities that have made Mt Buller the thriving destination that it is today.
