Arlberg Hotel on the side of the main ski run Bourke Street is seeking a number of qualified and experienced Chefs and Cooks to fill various positions for the 2021 snow season.  These positions play a significant role in catering for our Guests both in house and walk in to our busy Hotel.  Applicants must work as part of a team with a high focus on preparing, producing and serving food to an exceptional standard.

Chefs and cooks will need to align their experiences and skills with the different offerings ranging from family dining a la carte for dinner to a busy lunch spot and hot breakfast, a la carte, for our in house guests and early risers to the mountain.  From 2nd chefs to junior chefs, applicants should understand their abilities and the necessary criteria to meet one of the current positions before applying:

  • Sous Chef/ Junior Sous Chef
  • Chef De Partie
  • Commis Chefs
  • Pastry Chef
  • Breakfast Chef
  • Pizza Chef/ Cooks            
  • Short Order Cook

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Following procedures according to stipulated department and company policies
  • Maintaining strict hygiene and safety procedures
  • Taking responsibility for various aspects of the kitchen as directed
  • Preparing, presenting and cooking to established standards and/or recipes with a sense of urgency
  • Ensuring that all food is stored and handled as per current food health and hygiene regulations
  • Ensuring that work area, equipment and section is kept clean at all times, as directed and in accordance with current health and hygiene regulations
  • Monitoring daily kitchen food and product requirements and communicating them appropriately in a timely manner
  • Adherring to the Arlberg's Occupaton Health and Safety policies supplied on employment

We're looking for people with:

  • Appropriate qualifications and experience for the role
  • Good skills both verbal and written in English
  • Safety conscious and aware (Food Safety qualifications desirable)
  • Current approved food handlers certification
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the Food Act and the ramifications to the business for non-compliance
  • Passionate about food with ideas to share
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment
  • The ability to work unsupervised and be a team player working for an very experienced Head Chef
  • Being able to commit for the entire snow season - early June to end September 2019

What we offer:

  • We pay under the Federal Hospitiality Award so all penalties are paid for weekend work and overtime
  • On mountain accommodation with full board (3 meals a day) on a share basis at a cost is available for those needing it.  All discussed at interview
  • Full Time position around 45 to 50 hours per 6 day week giving a balance for snow activities and your job
  • With completion of Buller Crew access to discounts for Season Lift passes and other on mountain establishments
