Following on from the announcement today of the cancellation of the 2021 Mogul Ski World Australian Interschools, Snow Australia and Mt Buller remain committed to providing Victorian schools, participants and families with the ability to attend and participate in two aspirational snowsports event experiences in 2021.
We are conscious of the impact on Victorian schools and participants of the limited time on snow in season 2020, and again in season 2021. With a new opening in the Event calendar we have decided to implement a revised event format that will generate a maximized opportunity for Victorian schools to participate in snowsports in 2021.
The ‘Mogul Ski World Interschools Snowsports Championships’ hosted from August 23-29 will be an individual format (no teams results). This will allow for the following:
A new ‘Mogul Ski World Interschools Team Championships’ will now replace the Mogul Ski World Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships – and be held on the same event days (8th – 12th September). Entries will be accepted from individuals and teams. This format will allow for the following:
The above changes are, as always, subject to Government directives. They are made with a motivation to promote and encourage maximum participation in what has been a very difficult time for the schools. Prioritising opportunities for kids to compete in Snowsport events is the driver. The individual nature of the Mogul Ski World Victorian Interschools Snowsport Championships event recognises the challenges schools face in ranking students for the purposes of forming teams. Schools will naturally be able to use the August event as a basis to select teams for the September event should they choose.
We look forward to your support and to seeing the student athletes back racing on snow.
The 2021 Mogul Ski World Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships will be hosted at Mt Buller from September 8-12. Students from schools from across Australia will participate in the Nationals. Competitors will compete in 9 disciplines including Alpine Giant Slalom, Snowboard Giant Slalom, Snowboard Cross, Ski Cross, Moguls, Cross Country Classical, Cross Country Freestyle Relay, Slopestyle Ski and Slopestyle Snowboard. Over 3000 event entries are anticipated for this significant event. For more information visit www.ausinterschools.com.au
