McKenzie Reserve, Yarra Glen- On the left hand side, approximately halfway through town as you drive from Melbourne. Open 24 hours.
Whittlesea Showgrounds, Whittlesea- Turn left off Whittlesea-Yea Rd, just after Mcphees Rd, as you drive towards Yea. Located opposite Whittlesea Park. Open during daylight hours.
High St, Yea- Located at the corner of the Goulburn Valley Highway and Station St, on the right hand side of the road as you are driving through town towards Mansfield. Open 24 hours.
Highett St, Mansfield- Turn left at the first roundabout as you are coming into town from Melbourne/Yea. Open 24 hours.
Day Car Park Shuttles are fully wheelchair accessible, in addition to this overnight visitors can book a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) valet taxi via the Mt Buller Transport App, Web or via telephone. If guests own a sit ski and require assistance from the Car Park to the slope we are happy to assist with the transport and movement of this equipment too. All overnight visitors to Mt Buller are required to carry wheel chains. Wheel chains may also be required for day visitors, depending on the road conditions on the day, and this may differ for 2-wheel drive (2WD) and 4-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles. Mirrimbah is the last opportunity to hire chains before driving up the mountain. As there is no assistance available to put wheel chains on once on the mountain, the driver (or passenger) must be capable of putting wheel chains on independently. Day visitors to Mt Buller park in the designated day car park and are then transported up to the Village via the designated bus which is wheelchair friendly. The car park is wheelchair accessible, however, care should be taken, as there may be snow or ice on the road.
Overnight visitors to Mt Buller park in one of the many overnight car parks, and are then transported to their accommodation by oversnow taxis. While Mt Buller has numerous accommodation providers, the locations listed here have wheelchair-accessible rooms and facilities. It is recommended that you talk directly with accommodation staff to discuss any particular needs prior to your trip to Mt Buller.
Ajax Ski Club- Located on Stirling Road, 300 metres from the Village Centre. The main entrance to the building is accessible via a ramp. There is one room with a queen-sized bed, and 5 single-sized bunk beds (accommodates up to 11 people), with an associated wheelchair-accessible bathroom. There are two other disabled bathrooms with easy access, but are not suited for wheelchair uses. The dining and lounge room are both on the same level as the bedroom, bathrooms, and entrance. Melbourne University Alpine Lodge- Located at the corner of The Avenue and Cow Camp Lane, in close proximity to the Village Bus Terminal. There is one wheelchair-accessible bedroom, and one accessible bathroom. The bedroom contains 2 bunk beds (accommodates up to 4 people). The lodge has a communal kitchen and common room on the ground floor. The main entrance into the lodge is wheelchair accessible. For more information, contact (03) 8344 5405. Mt Buller Chalet Hotel- Located on Athlete’s Walk in the heart of the Village. There is one room with a wheelchair-accessible bathroom, which can accommodate 2 people. All other rooms can accommodate up to 4 people and can be accessed via a lift from reception. The main entrance from Athlete’s Walk is wheelchair-accessible. Entry into the building from the road (when using taxis), however, is not wheelchair-accessible. For more information, contact 1800 810 200 or (03) 5777 6566. The Mt Buller Village consists of quite hilly terrain, which can be covered in snow and ice during the snow season. For independent wheelchair users, this may be challenging and a companion may be needed for some assistance.
There are free buses that run around the Mt Buller Village, however, these are not wheelchair-accessible. Visitors can book a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) valet taxi via the Travel Safe - Mt Buller Transport App, Web or via telephone. If guests own a sit ski and require assistance from the Car Park to the slope we are happy to assist with the transport and movement of this equipment too. Abom Hotel- Located at the top of Athlete’s Walk, just off Bourke St. Grid reference J11 on the Mt Buller Village Map.
Horsehill Car Park- There is a single-level toilet at the day car park. Grid reference U3 on the Mt Buller Village Map.
Village Square Plaza, Village Square- An accessible toilet is located on the lower level of the building. Accessible entry is via the door closest to the Village Bus Terminal. Grid reference J8 on the Mt Buller Village Map.
Arlberg Hotel- Located at the top of Summit Road near the top of the Blue Bullet chairlift. The toilet is on the lower level of the building, accessible via the Summit Road entrance. Grid reference I15 on the Mt Buller Village Map.
Mt Buller Chalet Hotel- Located on Athlete’s Walk, in the heart of the Village Centre. The accessible toilet is located on the ground floor of the hotel. Accessible entry is via Athlete’s Walk. Grid reference J9 on the Mt Buller Village Map.
Village Square Plaza, Village Square- The Village Square Plaza has public seating, toilets (including a wheelchair-accessible toilet), free WI-FI, and an ATM. Wheelchair-accessible entry is through the door closest to the Village Bus Terminal. Grid reference J8 on the Mt Buller Village Map.
Disabled Wintersport Australia (DWA) is the National Sporting Organisation body responsible for adaptive winter sport in Australia. The mission of DWA is “To promote and foster the advancement of participation by people with a disability in wintersport both in Australia and overseas”.
DWA members are provided with a variety of services, including free use of adaptive snowsports equipment (subject to availability), assistance from volunteer guides at no cost (subject to availability), and concessions on lift ticket, adaptive snowsports lesson, and equipment hire prices. Available to members are a dedicated team of volunteers who are trained to support members with a range of disabilities on snow. Members are able to access volunteer guides for assistance on snow. The Mt Buller Ski & Snowboard School has a limited number of qualified adaptive snowsports instructors available to teach individuals with a range of disabilities the skills required to ski or snowboard. DWA members receive a concession (subject to availability) on private lessons through the Mt Buller Ski & Snowboard School. More information about lessons can be found here.
