Applications are now being sought to fill positions in our 4-star boutique hotel and spa at Mount Buller for the 2021 ski season.

The ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a 4-5 star hotel/resort kitchen. A polite and pleasant manner is essential along with excellent English and an eye for detail. We require team players, who are hardworking, reliable and true hospitality professionals. You must be prepared to work a rotating roster, six days a week throughout the season and always maintain a sunny disposition.

Chefs will need to align their experiences and skills with our different offerings ranging from A La Carte, Pizzeria, Buffet and Room Service offerings.  Applicants should understand their skills and abilities and the necessary criteria to meet one of the current positions before applying:

What will I be doing?

All Chefs/Cooks assist the Head Chef and Food and Beverage Manager in performing the daily operations in our Signature Restaurant, Loft Bar, Gourmet Pizzeria and Room Service offerings to deliver an excellent guest experience. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Complete daily tasks as instructed by head chef within the kitchen department
  • Following procedures according to stipulated department and company policies
  • Preparing, presenting and cooking to established standards and/or recipes with a sense of urgency
  • Ensuring that all food is stored and handled as per current food health and hygiene regulations
  • Ensuring that work area, equipment and section is kept clean at all times, as directed and in accordance with current health and hygiene regulations
  • Monitoring daily kitchen food and product requirements and communicating them appropriately in a timely manner
  • Maintain exceptional levels of customer service
  • Maintaining strict hygiene and safety procedures
  • Taking responsibility for various aspects of the kitchen as directed
  • Ensure communication meetings are conducted between shifts
  • Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships
  • Comply with hotel security, fire regulations, liquor compliance and all health and safety legislation

What are we looking for?

All Chefs/Cooks at Breathtaker Hotel and Spa are always working on behalf of our guests and working with other team members. To successfully fill this role you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow;

  • Appropriate qualifications and experience for the role
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Safety conscious and aware (Food Safety qualifications desirable)
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the Food Act and the ramifications of non-compliance
  • Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations
  • Ability to work as an individual or in a team
  • Passion for food and providing exceptional levels guest service
  • Current approved food handler’s certification
  • Excellent grooming standards

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Trade qualification
  • Extensive experience in a similar role in a 4-5 star hotel/resort
  • Australian resident or must have a current working visa for Australia
  • Seasonal Work - position available from June to September 2021.
