Buller Ski Lifts General Manager Laurie Blampied welcomed the arrival of the $1.6m investment to the ski area, “This investment re-writes the script for the start of winter.  Instead of wondering when the snow will arrive we can assure our guests early season skiing and snowboarding from the beginning of the season.”

The TechnoAlpin SF220 Snowfactory can continuously produce snow 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at temperatures well above freezing.   It is capable of generating up to 220 cubic metres of snow daily at up to 15 degrees Celsius.

The Snowfactory is an exciting step-change to Mt Buller’s already extensive snowmaking capacity, “Snow on the ground is the cornerstone for any alpine resort, so the Snowfactory is brilliant news for skiers, snowboarders and our resort operators who can look forward to turns on Bourke Street for opening weekend in June with confidence,” said John Huber, Chief Executive Officer at Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management.

On site for the installation Laurie Blampied explained, “Our team will be working around the clock to commission the Snowfactory in the coming weeks so watch this space for reports of our first snow!”

The Snowfactory was shipped from TechnoAlpin in Italy back in January and took three semi-trailers to deliver it to the mountain. It is the first of its type in Australia.
