24 April 2020 UPDATE
Eagle-eyed cam watchers will have noticed plenty of activity up on the Boggy Creek webcam this week as the team race to keep ahead of the looming winter weather and complete the important water storage project for the resort.
The breathtaking scale of the new 100 megalitre reservoir was highlighted by the tiny ant-like people spotted working on the dam floor.
If you wondered what they were doing, the team have been installing the aeration system that will keep the water moving once the dam fills. This is important to prevent ice forming on the surface of the water when temperatures plummet in the midst of winter.
The new water storage provides more water available for snowmaking and in readiness Buller Ski Lifts has invested significantly in more snowguns - adding 76 to the already extensive network. New snowmaking is set to transform Standard Run and enable more days for skiers and boarders to enjoy this popular southside blue run.
Thank you to everyone who jumped in this week, during some very windy and cold days on the mountain, to get this significant step in the project completed so quickly.
Watch a timelapse of the reservoir taking shape from October 2019 – March 2020.
