Join the Ski Club of Victoria (SCV) and the Mt Buller community in celebrating the 100th anniversary of skiing on Mt Buller.
Celebrate the anniversary with us in the Mount Buller Village Square and skiing the beautiful mountain before the evening celebrations kick off.
Prepare to be awed by an incredible spectacle as Bourke Street is illuminated with a torch-lit descent and fireworks display to mark this momentous occasion. The torch-lit descent will be staged during the Twilight Session on Bourke Street (5 - 8.30pm).
Come twilight skiing and boarding on the night to celebrate the occasion, with public skiing and snowboarding paused briefly as the ceremonial torch bearers descend the Bourke Street run.
12:00pm - 4:00pm - Face painting in the Village Square
12:00pm - 4:00pm - Warm up by the Fire Pits in the Village Square and roast some marshmallows between 2pm & 3pm
1:00pm - 4:00pm - Do a snow dance and listen to DJ David on the Village Stage
3:00pm – SCV race on Bourke Street
4:00pm - 4:15pm - Meet some of the young athletes of Mt Buller
4:00pm – ABOM Ice Bar to open on Bourke Street
4:15pm - 4:30pm - DJ David is back on the Village Stage spinning some tunes
4:30pm - 5:00pm - As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of skiing Mount Buller check out the fashion parade showcasing skiing outfits from the 1930's to now!!
5:00pm - 6:00pm - DJ David playing in the Village
From 6:00pm - head on up to Helicopter Flat outside Ski & Snowboard School and the Ice Bar outside Abom Restaurant to get into place for the best fireworks viewing spot!!
6:10pm – Chair lift stops for Torch Run setup & fireworks
6:20pm – Lights off & Torch Run to commence
6:30pm – Chair reopen, Twilight Session recommences
7:00pm – ABOM Ice Bar on Bourke Street to close
The first turns on skis were made on the mountain back on 6 July 1924 by a small group from the newly formed SCV. The torch-lit parade honours this important anniversary for the Ski Club of Victoria and celebrates the joy skiing has given the entire Mt Buller community for a century.
