Buller X Call Up

Buller X blasted into the Australian alpine scene last year creating a new style of event for elite skiers. 

Held in the style of big wave surf events Buller X is an invitational event for elite athletes who are listed and then wait for conditions to 'call the day' when the event can run.  The venue is Mt Buller's steep and daunting chutes off the southern side of the summit.  Terrain that is challenging and consequential.  Terrain that most of us would never consider attempting.  

Buller X raises awareness about the need for education before exploring side country and backcountry terrain and fosters a healthy respect for the mountains.

Only the best will be chosen to participate.  This year snowboarders have been added to the event and there is also some healthy NSW v. Victorian rivalry to spice things up.  Mt Buller locals who have their hats in the ring include Anton Grimus, Mitch Reeves, James Phillips, Torie Hamilton Wilson, Joey Corcoran, Watkin McLennan and boardercross Olympian Cam Bolton.  They have a solid line up of other Victorian contenders and some serious competition from NSW!  Check out all the Call Up contenders here and vote for your athletes DAILY.

Although most of us will never attempt riding the chutes ourselves we can VOTE this week and choose the athlete we'd like to see take on this challenge.  Voting is open for just 1 week from Friday 30 until 7 July.  

Everyone who votes in the “Call Up” has the chance to WIN the incredible major prize of a week for two at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, WY USA and great prizes from event partners Rip Curl, Teton Gravity Research, Volkl and Giro.  

You can VOTE DAILY for the skiers and snowboarders you wish to go through to the competition.

Five skiers and five boarders will secure slots through the Victorian  “Call Up” with the announcement made at Mt Buller’s Kooroora Hotel on Saturday 8^th July. A further five skiers and five boarders will score their entry through the NSW “Call Up” to be announced at the Lake Jindabyne Hotel on Saturday July 15^th.
