Pond Skim National Championships

It's all about crazy costumes, silly stunts and a giant outdoor pool party with matching Pirate Life Beer Garden on Bourke St to celebrate Buller at it's best - in spring!

9am – 2pm Skimmer check in at Ski School Ticketing

11:30am – 1:00pm Kids Skim

1:00pm – 3:00pm DJ/Roaming Performers/Presentations

3:00pm – 5:00pm Adult Skim

5:00pm – 7:00pm DJ/Roaming Performers

7:00pm Fireworks

8:00pm After party & presentations at Moosehead

Thanks for your interest in competing in the elite annual FIPS Pond Skim National Championships presented by Pirate Life. Despite being recognised as the National Championships and fully homologated and sanctioned by FIPS, you don't need to follow an athlete pathway from your local pond skimming club, through the state league, to reach national glory. Just give it a crack.

This year entry is just $10. TEN DOLLARS! With a free Pirate Life included!! You can enter as a team or individual, or both (need to enter twice).

Juniors (<18) is $5 because no beer for you.

The judging is based a little on your jump and choreography, but the majority of the score comes from the costume. The more topical the better. Perhaps you're rolling into the pond as a $12 cabbage. Or launching it HIMARS style. So get cracking on your outfits and contraptions.

A few key points:

• The majority of the score comes from your costume - the more topical the better! Don't worry too much about making it across ;)
• Custom music tracks for your run can be played by the DJ for full choreography. Details available upon registration
• No sharp objects or items which could result in serious injury (we punctured the liner once and took out half of the lower village)
• Helmets are compulsory
• Don't drink and skim
• Two runs may be permitted if time allows
