The Mt Buller community comes together for a shred to remember Chumpy, share stories and celebrate his life.
This is simply a gathering, we'll ride the chair, swap some stories, share a lap and remember our friend.
MEET: 8.30am in Village Square at the bottom of Cattleman's Staircase for a group photo
RIDE: We'll all head up the Bourke Street Express and up to Summit (if the weather is clear) and do a lap together. Approx 45min
That's it. #shredforchumpy
If you are interested to know more there is now a Foundation set up in Chumpy's memory and they are doing some pretty cool stuff to support access to snowboarding. Swing by the site and sign up for updates.
The Chumpy Foundation sums it up:
Chumpy's power to influence and inspire people though his snowboarding cannot be understated, and this influence was equally reinforced with his love of surfing, free-diving, music & riding his motor bike. He lived to love and loved to live.
Pioneering in his approach to commercialising snow boardercross (SBX) opportunities for himself and other athletes, he was a well-liked and respected person, he was kind, caring and supportive to emerging athletes and equally respected and revered by his competitive peers for his talent and determination.
Honouring Chumpys legacy through a foundation that supports his interests and values has the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on people lives by providing support and foundations for the both the next generation, and current, athletes as well as the broader surf, snow, music communities he impacted.
