This morning Mt Buller reported the highest overnight snow total of all the Aussie resorts - which doesn't happen every day. So we're celebrating!
But it's not all schnapps and sliding around on powder skis when a massive storm smashes into the mountain - there is a mountain (literally) of work to be done before the fun and games can begin.

This morning, while most skiers were cosy in bed dreaming of knee-deep turns the mountain operations crew were making their way to work, in the dark, through deep snow and sub-zero temperatures and getting ready to shovel snow. Hours later they were still shoveling. And road clearing. And clearing fallen branches. And finding pieces of signage that had been torn off in the 200 kms gusts overnight. You get the picture!
The great news for all of us who love to ski is that this storm has nudged the average depth to between 61 - 101cms and there is more in the forecast this week, with some cold nights coming to lock it all in.
Get ready to ski your favourite runs, make a few changes to your work itinerary this week so you can get up for a mid-week slide and book in some Spring stays (before everyone beats you to it).
Thank you to Mountain Manager Nick Reeves for taking these 'pre-dig out' photos this morning on the upper mountain.
