25 May 2017: Mt Buller is bustling with preparations for the official opening of the 2017 snow season, in just a couple of weeks. The first weekend of this winter season will be particularly special for Mt Buller thanks to the resort’s new $1.6m TechnoAlpin Snowfactory which promises skiing and boarding on Bourke Street from the kick off.
Buller Ski Lifts General Manager, Laurie Blampied explains, the Snowfactory is a game-changer for Mt Buller, “Never before have we been able to guarantee guests skiing and boarding from opening weekend. We are seeing record early season bookings as a result and it’s terrific for everyone in the resort who can look to the 10 June with new confidence and certainty that comes with snow on the ground.”

Massive mounds of snow from the Snowfactory can been seen on the Bourke Street ski run with enthusiasts checking the Mt Buller webcams daily to see the progress.
The picturesque alpine village will come to life for the long weekend celebrations with festivities both on and off the snow and plenty of entertainment to mark the start of the popular winter season.
Group Marketing Manager, Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management, Gill Dobson commented, “It’s absolutely buzzing up here as we prepare for another exciting opening weekend. We’ve got a slate of activities, fireworks and live entertainment lined up right across the Queen’s Birthday for guests to enjoy. I encourage everyone to come and revel in the party atmosphere and get in those first special turns of the winter on our snow!”
Mt Buller is offering even more this winter with the introduction of Twilight Sessions that will make mid-winter weekends even longer in July and August. On Saturdays and Sundays the Village Snowplay Park will stay open for tobogganing under lights and the Village will hum with live entertainment.
From 8 July - 27 August guests will enjoy skiing and boarding as Bourke Street lights up until 8.30pm, including Australia’s first ‘under lights’ beginner lessons at the Ski & Snowboard School. Discounted resort entry after 3pm and extended car park shuttle hours add up to the best ‘long’ weekend in the ski fields.
