This year Mt Buller celebrates 100 years of skiing so get ready for the festivities, fun and fireworks that will come with this giant once-in-a hundred-year party!
It’s a Dragon year in Chinese astrology, a Wood Dragon to be precise, and we haven’t had one of those since 1964.
Happy birthday to all those Wood Dragons celebrating their 60th birthdays! We hope you spend some time on the mountain for a ski, some après and breathe some of your fire into the alpine air.
A few themes expected to be part of this Wood Dragon year are innovation and renewal. 2024 may be a year where we see exciting changes and a reorganisation of the status quo – think Australian Olympian and Mt Buller local Jakara Anthony shaking up the international mogul skiing world with her tremendous winning streak so far this year.

It’s also a year for embracing changes. As a community our resort management is entering a bright new chapter with Alpine Resorts Victoria bringing changes and fresh faces to the team. Dragon years are known for being a bountiful time for babies – and we’ve already seen great news on this front for our fragile and unique Mountain Pygmy-Possum population who are doing their bit to boost their population.
It's a year for pursuing ambitious projects, for taking risks and trying something different. In resort this includes continual improvements and changes to make the resort more energy efficient, to make more snow and to improve the experience for guests every day.
Wishing you a happy and healthy Dragon year and we invite you to leap into the celebratory and fiery energy of this centenary season at Mt Buller!
