The 2024 Mogul Ski World Victorian Interschools Snowsports Championships have drawn to a close after a week of competition at Mt Buller. Despite the challenges posed by the weather, the event was a resounding success, showcasing the resilience, skill, and camaraderie of the participants.
David Speirs, Interschools Event Manager, summed up the week, saying, “It has been another huge week at the 2024 Mogul Ski World Victorian Interschools Snowsport Championships. We have had 6550 event entries from 245 Victorian Schools. 500 Volunteers along with 55 on-snow event staff made the events run as safely and efficiently as possible. The weather threw the competitors and event teams a few challenges, but we have delivered very successful full-format events.”

Mt Buller’s Mountain Operations Team, as always, played a crucial role in ensuring the event's success. The snowmaking and grooming teams worked tirelessly, particularly through the unpredictable weather conditions, to maintain top snow cover across all racecourses. Using advanced SnowSat GPS technology, they meticulously managed snow distribution, ensuring each event site met the high standards expected of this prestigious competition.

Our snowmaking crew and groomers worked around the clock to ensure the racecourses were in top shape. The athletes showed remarkable resilience, pushing through tough conditions to deliver outstanding performances. It’s a testament to the spirit of the Interschools community and the unwavering commitment of our Mt Buller team that we were able to provide such a memorable event despite the challenges."

2024 is Mt Buller’s 100 years of skiing and it is also Strathcona Girls Grammar School’s 100th anniversary. Both centennials added an extra layer of celebration to the week, and a commemorative photo was taken by the Strathcona team at the event, capturing the shared pride and history. These celebrations reinforce the enduring legacy of both Mt Buller and the schools that have made Interschools a beloved tradition.
