It’s definitely time to get back in the saddle and find that bike fitness while you make some summer riding plans. Here in resort the trail maintenance is well underway and word from the team out on the trails is they are making great progress already.
The winter storms tend to leave a bit of carnage on the trails with tree branches to clear and earthworks to do before the 100kms of trails start to open in early November. Thanks for keeping off the trails until we give the green light and it safe to roll.
Circle the Melbourne Cup weekend on your calendar when the trails will progressively open and winter road closures around Mt Stirling are lifted.
The bike trail status and openings will be shared here and the Bike Buller IG will gear up with plenty of inspiration and behind the scenes peeks as berms are shaped and trails buffed out ready for riding.
The first weekend in December is when ride season officially kicks in with the gravity network open, the Blue Dirt Shuttles available, snacks and bike rental in the village and Mirimbah store offering snacks, brews and caffeine fixes at the bottom of the Delatite River Trail. It's the perfect pit stop while you wait for the bike shuttle ride back up.
FLOW MTB have just shared a great story about getting on the trails with a Melbourne family - so don't take our word for it, jump in and have a read about the great time Michelle, David, Alice and Angus had up here earlier this year.
There are more and more accessible trails for intermediate riders to enjoy and e-bikes make it even more appealing for more riders of all levels.
The best way to make the most of a riding escape this summer is to stay high on the mountain in the Mt Buller village like the Leach family did - have the trails at your doorstep, shuttles waiting and relax and watch the sunset after you day on the trails.
Photos from FLOW captured by Leach family during their visit. They stayed in the middle of the village in a Kooroora Apartment - overlooking the pump track with bike shuttles at the door
