For an unprecedented 6th time, Jye Kearney has taken out the Burton Cattleman’s Rail Jam at Mt Buller, asserting his dominance as the most prolific rider in Cattleman’s history.
With one of the smoothest styles in snowboarding, Jye’s success at Rail Jam is second to none, with an incredible six Cattleman’s titles in seven years. Having ridden in the event since he was just 14 years old, his experience in the event truly shone through and he displayed a technical line up of spins on and off both outer rails, gaps and tricks on the close-out rail landing him top spot on the podium and another $4,000 pay cheque.
Having travelled all the way from Canada to compete in his first Cattleman’s event, Bryce Bugera took out second place, taking a fresh and creative approach to the stair set with impeccable style and consistency. Bryce takes home with him a cool $2000 pay cheque and his first international event podium.
Taking home $1000 and the third place title was Cattleman’s veteran Troy Sturrock, who has for years shown up and put down his signature array of stylish, technical and creative tricks for the Mt Buller crowd.
Each year at Cattleman’s we honor the best trick on the night with an award of its own. In 2018, Burton was proud to partner with Monster Energy to present the Monster Best Trick Award, with the most difficult trick on the night earning $1000 cold hard cash. This year’s Best Trick was awarded to Mansfield local Harry Green, who sent a huge, never-been-done maneuver, a backside 50-50 on the top close out rail, backside 270 transfer to the lower rail.
G-Shock presented the new G-Shock Tough Award, giving the hardest charging, most committed performance on the night a limited edition G-Shock x Burton watch valued at $750. The award went to Dean Ridy who after plenty of slams, put down some incredibly challenging tricks to earn himself the G-Shock title.
At the famed Cattleman’s After Party, Corona once again sent party-goers into a frenzy, with a live DJ set by well renowned Australian group Total Giovanni, who ignited the Moosehead bar and ensured the Cattleman’s after party remains one of the most talked about nights of the season.
