22 June 2023: More lifts are rolling at Mt Buller as the alpine resort prepares to welcome an influx of skiers and snowboarders ahead of school holidays. New lifts online today include Skyline, Koflers and Summit boosting the overall lift count to 7.
“It’s exciting to have more of the mountain opening up right on time for the Victorian winter school holidays,” said Buller Ski Lifts General Manager Noel Landry.
“The snowmaking and lift operations crews have pulled out all the stops this week. It’s been a perfect pairing of a deep delivery of fresh natural snow and our team adding to it with long days and nights of snowmaking to take the snow cover to above 60cms in many of the areas now groomed and open.”
Ideally timed snowfalls earlier this week blanketed Mt Buller with 38 centimetres of fresh snow. Temperatures have been resolutely hovering well below zero for days and there is further snow in the forecast from this evening, extending into next week for school holiday visitors. Free and fun “Kid’s Week” activities are planned daily from 26-30 June and resort mascots Blake the Flake and Barry Possum are eager to get out on the slopes to get sliding with the kids.
Ski & Snowboard School is buzzing with lessons steadily booking in for the school holidays including morning, all day and afternoon classes as well as private lessons for all levels on demand. Northside Express is available for sightseeing guests direct from the day visitor car parks up to Spurs cafe.
On mountain dining venues are open and providing delicious options and al-fresco decks prefect for long lunches at Spurs, Koflers and Tirol.
There is still some availability for accommodation during the school holidays, although with the additional snow and lifts bookings are filling quickly. Midweek visits are recommended for the best value and experience in resort.
Mt Buller begins Twilight Sessions with night skiing on Bourke Street on Wednesdays and Saturdays during the school holidays and throughout July and August.
