Mt Buller has received 3cm of fresh snow overnight and flurries have continued this morning, with snow forecast down to 800m. More snow is expected over the coming days, with only 24 days to go until the official start of the 2015 snow season on Queen’s Birthday long weekend.
The alpine village has already seen snow fall this year, with the first flakes arriving in late March.
General Manager of Buller Ski Lifts Laurie Blampied welcomed the snow falls and said things were in full swing preparing for the upcoming season.
“While it’s not uncommon to see snow falls prior to the official opening of the season, it’s always exciting and builds plenty of buzz around the village. With Opening Weekend just a month away, we’re putting the finishing touches to a number of upgrades across the resort.”
“So with the snow already falling and great accommodation deals available online, everything is falling into place for our Opening Weekend celebrations, and we cannot wait to welcome our guests back on top of the world at Mt Buller,” Blampied said.
The 2015 winter snow season will officially commence on June 6, with a weekend full of free activities and celebrations planned throughout the Mt Buller Village.
Just three hours from Melbourne, Mt Buller is the most accessible major snow resort in Australia with over 300 hectares of skiable terrain, more lifts, more runs and more accommodation options than any other Victorian snow resort.
