NEW trails add 10kms to network

30 October 2026

30 October 2026: Mt Buller unveiled five new single track mountain bike trails today as the progressive opening of the mountain biking season gets underway this weekend on the mountain.

The trio of new gravity trails - Alley Way, Bombs Away and Danger Zone – run parallel to one another and unlock a superb pocket of the resort area with undulating and twisty riding through stunning tall mountain ash forest taking riders down to the Mt Buller Tourist Road.

The two cross country trails – Delatite River Trail Link and Woolybutt Extension - add 5 kms of friendly riding and, importantly, better connect existing trails to provide a seamless riding experience.

The new trails add a total of approx. 10kms of additional riding which unlock new configurations that allow a full day of riding gravity trails while accessing commercially operated shuttles, as well as an outstanding 4-hour loop beginning and ending at Mt Buller Village.

David Leathem, Head of Visitor Experience Mt Buller & Mt Stirling, is delighted with the addition to Mt Buller’s offering for riders,

“The mountain bike community is going to love what these trails offer with a flow on extension adding approx. 2.5km vertical to the existing gravity zone on the northside of the mountain. They can choose a trail to suit their skill level and everyone enjoys the same stunning terrain as they take their chosen route through the forest. All three options come out at the Plough Shed on Mt Buller road where riders can connect with convenient shuttles or continue on, linking up to the Delatite River Trail and roll all the way down to Mirimbah Park.”

The new trails have been funded through the Victorian Government’s Regional Tourism Investment Fund and delivered in partnership with Alpine Resorts Victoria, who also contributed to the project and delivered the works.

David McCoombe, Mt Buller’s Resort Operations Manager, has overseen the project delivery and is thrilled with the extended trail network,

“Riders are going to love how these new trails allow them to truly ride the full vertical of the mountain from the top of Spurs on the gravity trails, link onto these new tracks and then continue across the Mt Buller Road down to Delatite River Trail and all the way to the valley floor.”

Mt Buller welcomes several mountain bike events this season with the return of the Victorian Downhill Series to the Mt Buller trails. Guided rides, bike rental, shuttle services, chairlift access and trails for all levels of riding are available at Mt Buller and stretch to neighbouring Mt Stirling including the refurbished 10km Stonefly trail.
