3.30pm Sat 29 July: The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a warning for strong winds this evening with winds expected to pick up this afternoon. As a safety measure the proposed Twilight Session on Bourke Street tonight has been CANCELLED.
Mt Buller has all 22 lifts in operation today and these lift operations will be monitored and adjusted if strong winds make operations unsafe. Please check the status of the lifts at mtbuller.com.au or using the Buller Live App across the afternoon and follow directions from Guest Services and Lift Operations crew.
Please note that at this stage there is no change to the planned Village Square entertainment, or the Village Snowplay Park tobogganing sessions. Staff will monitor conditions throughout the evening, and may close the session should conditions dictate.
The Bureau warning is as follows:
DESTRUCTIVE WINDS: Northerly winds averaging 80 to 90 km/h with peak gusts of around 130 km/h are possible about the Alpine peaks from Saturday evening until early Sunday morning.
Winds are expected to ease over western parts of the warning area late Saturday afternoon, over central parts during the evening, and over the eastern ranges early Sunday morning.
GOOD NEWS FOR SUNDAY!
The forecast for tomorrow is for winds easing back down in the morning and a high chance of snow showers. Winds are expected to drop to 35-50km/h so usual lift operations are expected for Sunday including Twilight Sessions until 8.30pm as scheduled.
The snow report will be updated at right here at mtbuller.com.au at 6.30am and please check the Buller Report and social media channels to keep up to date with the current conditions.
