Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management together with the Australian Packaging Covenant (APC), and Sustainability Victoria, are undergoing a project to improve and refurbish aging public place recycling (PPR) bin infrastructure systems at the Resorts, to further improve best practice waste management within the current PPR system over the next 12 months.
Environmental Services Manager for the Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management, Louise Perrin said "An opportunity exists in the Resorts PPR landscape to improve ageing bin infrastructure that has been exposed to harsh climatic conditions. The project aims to increase the recovery of recyclable materials from landfill by 5% over the 12 months, and reduce litter by 3%. It is important that best practice guidelines for site suitability, bin placement and configuration are managed, so that Mt Buller and Mt Stirling's residents, staff and visitors can use a clear and consistent recycling system".
