Burning lungs, powering legs and pumping arms - the fun (or should we say challenge?) of cross-country racing has begun! The 2023 Moguls Ski World Victorian Interschools Cross-Country Championships took place on Sunday 6 August.
Cross-country is the most aerobically challenging sport on the planet. Seeing so many racers making it across the finish line and showing up for their school was incredibly impressive and no small feat.
Over 655 competitors sped around the course and pushed their limits in the cross-country classic and skate relay events. See the results for all the events here. This is a qualifying event for the Australian Interschools Cross-Country Championships in Mt Buller on 8 September.
A big thank you to the race and mountain operations department for setting up a fantastic course on the Tirol circuit working with limited snow cover. The weather participated nicely for the day, providing sunny and calm conditions in which hundreds of supporters made up of family, friends and teachers cheered on their participants.
Three top photographers, Abbey Jordan, Cooper Stankovich and Tony Harrington, were course-side snapping professional shots of the racers on the trails. These can be viewed and purchased here.
