Wombat lift will turn from Friday 30 June boosting the offering for school holidays with the inclusion of Mt Buller’s longest and popular blue run.
The Buller Ski Lifts snowmaking team has been focusing efforts to make as much snow as possible and get this popular south-facing area ready, “The cold temperatures in recent nights have created ideal operating conditions for snowmaking,” explained Buller Ski Lifts General Manager, Laurie Blampied. “They have been building the snow piles down on Little Buller Spur for a few solid nights now and the grooming team will soon move in there to get it ready for some nice groomed turns on Friday morning. We are delighted to have this area open as we welcome guests for the school holidays.”
In addition to the Wombat chairlift, the Northside Express is set to roll for the first weekend of the school holidays starting on Saturday 1 July for sightseeing and access to the Spurs café.
The Northside Express chairlift offers breathtaking views of the northern slopes and up to the summit as well as a thrilling ride over the canopy of mountain ash and northern slopes. Visitors can ride the chairlift directly from the day visitor car park up to Spurs where the café will be open and serving snacks and warm drinks. There will be a limited snowplay zone available outside Spurs.
Please note with the commencement of sightseeing on the Northside Express there will no longer be access for foot passengers on Blue Bullet.
Twilight entertainment adds to the fun winter school holiday vibe in the village square with fire pits for marshmallow roasting and entertainment on offer as the sun dips down on July-August weekends.
Extended hours for the weekend shuttle buses to the car parks will encourage visitors to stay on into the evening for a meal, some snowplay under the lights in the village snowplay park and stretch out their weekend experience.
Discounted resort entry is available from 3pm at the gate, shuttles will continue to the day car parks until 9.30pm.
Snowmaking is continuing on Shakey Knees with the area being assessed daily with plans to open Fox Chairlift as soon as cover allows. STAY TUNED!
