Hotel Pension Grimus is seeking an experienced and confident Duty Manager to oversee hotel operations throughout the winter ski season. This hands‑on leadership role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment and enjoys coordinating multiple departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Located in the heart of the Mt Buller village, Hotel Pension Grimus is a family-owned boutique hotel offering hotel room and self‑contained apartment accommodation, renowned dining and bar venues, and on-site ski & snowboard centre. With a strong reputation for personalised service and genuine European alpine charm, we provide guests with an unforgettable mountain experience.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Duty Manager, you will act as the senior on‑site leader during your shifts, ensuring smooth operations across Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Kitchen teams. You’ll manage real‑time operational demands, support staff, resolve issues, and uphold the hotel’s exceptional service standards.
ABOUT YOU
We're looking for a leader who can bring professionalism, energy, and warmth to this unique alpine role. The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in 4- or 5-star hotel or resort management
- Strong operational and financial management skills
- A hands‑on leadership style and excellent communicator
- The ability to perform in high‑pressure environments
- Availability to work weekends, public holidays, and winter peak periods
- A passion for hospitality and alpine living
CONTRACT DETAILS
- Fixed‑term winter ski season contract (June–September). Duration dependent on snow conditions and occupancy.
- Weekend, public holiday, and split‑shift availability required.
- On‑site staff accommodation and meals package available.
- Role requires consistent on-site presence during peak winter periods.
- 38 to 48 hours per week depending on occupancy.
- 6‑day rotating roster with early, late, and split shifts (2–3 per week).
- Work conditions subject to alpine weather and operational demands.
- Suitable for Australian residents or Working Holiday Visa holders (417/462)
