A Valentine's Escape Worth Slowing Down For

12 February 2026

Valentine’s Day doesn’t need crowded restaurants or rushed reservations. It needs time. Space. A breath of fresh air.

Swap the city heat for crisp alpine mornings and quiet village strolls. At Mt Buller, romance is found in the simple things – uninterruptedconversations, fresh mountain air and the luxury of having nowhere else to be.

This is your invitation to slow down together.

Stay for the Sunset

Book a weekend at the Mt Buller Chalet Hotel & Suites and let the mountain set the pace. Wake slowly to sweeping High Country views and step outside into the cool morning air.
An on mountain stay means no commuting, no rushing – just more time for the two of you.

Daytime Wandering: picnics, snowgums and nowhere to be…

Pack a picnic and head out beneath the snowgums. Wander hand in hand along gentle alpine trails, stopping whenever the view calls for it.

Cruise to the Canyon Side Trip for a stunning view, or to simply find a quiet patch of grass and settle in. Conversations feel different up here…unhurried, uninterrupted, carried by cool mountain air.

There’s no schedule. Just the day unfolding.

Choose Your Adventure – Choose Your Pace

Romance looks different for everyone. Maybe it’s stepping things up for an adventure along Family Trail or towards Little Buller, earning those High Country views together.

Or perhaps it’s something softer – a scenic ride on the Northside Express Chairlift, drifting above the landscape before stopping in at Spurs Café for a coffee…or a glass of bubbles.

However you spend it, the mountain moves at your pace.

Riverside Reset

Take the escape a little further with a visit to Mirimbah Park, where the Delatite River winds gently at the foot of the mountain.

Lay out a picnic rug beneath the shade of the Woolybutt trees. Dip your toes – or dive right in – to cool off on a warm summer afternoon. Stretch out, close your eyes and let the sound of running water and cicadas replace the noise of everyday life.

Golden Hour: Where the Magic Really Happens

As the day softens, make your way to the Summit Nature Walk. Head out around 7pm, bring a light jumper as it will get cool, and wander towards the summit as the sky begins to shift. Up here, sunset stretches longer – often not dipping behind the horizon until closer to 8:30pm.

Settle in. Share a bottle of wine. Watch as the mountains glow in layers of pink, gold and violet.

And when the sun finally slips away, stay a little longer still. The best colours often arrive after the sun is gone. This is the moment you’ll remember.
