Hump day pump day!

30 September 2015

Mt Buller is preparing for another huge summer of riding, and in order to get riders excited for the upcoming bike season, celebrated the first of three Bike Buller Pump Track Sessions on Wednesday, 23 September. The Pump Track Session saw Mt Buller’s Subaru Pump Track set up in a giant warehouse in Essendon Fields, complete with DJs, a food truck, bar and more.

The Subaru Pump Track was open for general use, with riders coming from all over Melbourne to test out their skills on the track. A thrilling competition also saw a keen group of riders battle it out for a sensational prize pool including $1000 cash for the winner. James Tait from Waverly Cycles was officially crowned the ‘King of Pump’ after winning an epic battle against a strong field of riders.

Following the successful launch of the first Pump Track Session, the team from Bike Buller is gearing up to host the second Pump Track Session, which is taking place on Wednesday, 14 October. During the second event, the competition component, nicknamed ‘Store Wars’, will feature members from Victorian bike retailers, who will battle it out in a bid to becoming the Store Wars King or Queen of Pump. Visitors can expect to experience the pump track during the open sessions, enjoy food and beer, special pump track session-only deals from Blue Dirt Mountain Biking and Andy’s Fat Tyre Lodge, as well as having the opportunity to support their favourite bike retailer during the competition component.

Marketing Director for Mt Buller Resort Management, Amber Gardner, said the Bike Buller Pump Track Sessions are a great way to get ready to hit the mountains and excited for the summer ahead. “The first Pump Track Session was an absolute hit and we’re thrilled to have had so many people, both young and old, enjoy Australia’s first modular pump track last week in Essendon Fields. Having the pump track in Melbourne is a great time to come together with our loyal mountain bike friends and industry partners and really get the countdown to summer started.

“We can’t wait to bring the Bike Buller buzz back to Melbourne on 14 October and encourage people to check out the awesome Pump Track Sessions clip on the Bike Buller website. We’re really looking forward to another massive season of mountain biking here on Buller all summer long!”
