Mt Buller will host a massive mountain biking expo on Saturday 12 to Monday 14 March as part of the GT Bike Buller Festival presented by Fox.
The expo will feature several brands of mountain bikes as well as mountain biking apparel, accessories, nutrition and more. The list of exhibitors includes GT Bicycles, Enve, Cannondale, Mongoose, Lezyne, Intense, Schwinn, SRAM, Fox, Bike Exchange, Adidas Eyewear, GU Energy, Red Bull and All Terrain Cycles.
The expo will be held in the Village Square at Mt Buller, which also serves at the event headquarters for the GT Bike Buller Festival presented by Fox.
Now in its eighth year, the GT Bike Buller Festival presented by Fox has become the ultimate mountain biking weekend on the annual calendar, with the social scene providing appeal for groups of mates and riders’ families as well.
It will feature 14 mountain bike events across a range of disciplines – All Mountain, Downhill, Gravity Enduro, Cross Country, Pump Track, Dual Slalom and Kids - as well as the opportunity to ride with MTB Hall of Fame Member Hans Rey.
Over 450 competitors are expected at the event, including several elite mountain bikers such as Jackson Frew – a regular on the international downhill circuit, Paul van der Ploeg - current National Cyclocross Champion and winner of the 2015 Oceania Eliminator XC, and Tegan Molloy – 2014 Junior World Champion.
“I attended the Bike Buller Festival last year for the first time and enjoyed it so much I’m coming back this year, racing more events and testing out some of the other trails Mt Buller has to offer,” said Tegan Molloy.
“I am most looking forward to riding and racing amongst so many bike orientated people who have all come together for an all-round enjoyable event. This will create a relaxed atmosphere which always ensures everyone involved is having a good time as well as riding and racing their best. I am also keen to ride the variety of trails that Mt Buller has to offer as it always good to test myself beyond the discipline of downhill,” she said.
Aside from racing, there is plenty of other action to be had over the festival weekend with a full social calendar of spectator events, kids’ bike rides, and a huge food, wine and music festival.
