Mt Buller is gearing up in fluoro ahead of the upcoming Dirt Maidens Challenge – a women’s specific mountain biking event set to take place on February 20-21. The Dirt Maidens Challenge is held over two action-packed days, which will see female riders from across Australia compete in a mountain bike race in a relaxed and social environment, with a fluoro fancy dress theme.
The mountain bike event consists of a cross-country and gravity race format, with three levels of difficulty to choose from. Participants will have the opportunity to enter into one or both disciplines over the weekend, while donning fluoro attire for an added element of fun.
A social ride will be available for those who have never ridden at Mt Buller before and who wish to prepare ahead of the event, taking place at 3pm on Friday 19 February at Mt Buller. Following the event on Saturday 20 February, dinner and drinks will be held at The Bike Club of Victoria, giving the ladies a chance to relax, recharge and share stories from their experience.
Group Marketing Manager for Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management, Gillian Dobson, said the Dirt Maidens Challenge will be a colourful and exciting event for both riders and spectators. “We’re really excited to host a brand new event this summer, which is just for the ladies. We’re seeing more and more women here at Mt Buller taking up mountain biking and it’s a fantastic opportunity for us to be able to provide something new this summer.
“There’s still time to register, so we’re encouraging all women to get on board to challenge themselves, give it a go and have fun! Plus, for ladies who register online, they’ll have the chance to win two night’s accommodation here at Mt Buller.”
