As the spring snow melts into the Delatite and Howqua Rivers work is set to start from 24 October adding to the 60km network of bike trails in resort with the new trails expected to be open for riding by Easter, and possibly sooner if weather permits.

The plan will expand the network by 10kms adding 5 new trails and links to improve the interconnection of existing trails. It will create more full-day and multi-day riding experiences around Mt Buller and Mt Stirling. The expansion is possible due to an investment from the Victorian Government Regional Tourism Investment Fund.
“Once these new trails are complete there will be even more options for people to explore what makes this stunning part of Australia so special and keeps people coming back year after year,” said Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos.
“These new mountain bike trails are a fantastic drawcard for visitors to Victoria’s High Country – supporting local businesses, creating jobs and showcasing the region’s natural beauty,” added Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes.
One of the new trails will add a flowing single-track connection to the popular contouring 8.7km Delatite River trail that currently starts at Box Corner and rolls down to the Mirimbah Park. The new trail will seamlessly link riders from Corn Hill road rolling through majestic Woolybutt forest to the existing Delatite trail completely avoiding the paved road.
Delatite River Trail offers rollers and jumps in addition to a mellow river-side ride through the cool alpine forest
“The Delatite River Trail is a beautiful ride for a broad-range of riding levels and this new link is the missing puzzle piece – it will make it much easier for riders to seamlessly roll in from other trails into this wonderful contouring trail through the forest and along the river,” explains Alpine Resorts Victoria General Manager for Mt Buller and Mt Stirling Alan Arthur.
“Alpine Resorts Victoria thanks the Victorian Government for this investment in new trails, which will cement our position as a world-class mountain bike location. These trails complete our vision for a network of modern and exciting riding options that appeal to both cross-country and gravity mountain bike disciplines.”
Four teams will be involved in the construction across the various new trails which will add two new beginner/family friendly trails and 3 gravity trails with jumps for more experienced riders. Existing trails will not be impacted by the works and will progressively open from November conditions permitting.

Mt Buller is delighted to confirm it will again be home to the GWM MTB National Championships from 18-22 March 2026, hosting competitors in downhill, cross-country Olympic and short track racing during the action-packed 5-day event staged on Mt Buller.
“The riding community is already looking ahead and booking in for Easter, which is a great time to enjoy a riding holiday based on Mt Buller, and this year will be better than ever with five brand new trails ready to ride,” added ARV’s Alan Arthur.
