The Safety Fine Print: Mountain biking carries risks. Mt Buller trails may have unmarked obstacles, steep drops and loose surfaces. Downhill trails are especially rough and rocky, so a suitable mountain bike with front and rear suspension is recommended. Ride at your own risk. Let someone know your plan. |
Sharing the trails: Most Mt Buller trails are shared by walkers, runners, mountain bikers and horse riders. Check the trail maps, watch for horses and give others room. |
Trail Maintenance: Help us realise our vision to create a sustainable, low maintenance facility that blends seamlessly with the natural environment by sending feedback to bike.mtbuller@alpineresorts.vic.gov.au. |
Electric Mountain Bikes: Pedal assist bikes that meet EN15194 or have a motor of no more than 250 watts are permitted on Mt Buller and Mt Stirling trails. Bikes that run without pedalling or use a throttle are not permitted. You can hire an eMTB from All Terrain Cycles when open on mountain. |
Helmets & Clothing: Wear an Australian Safety Standard approved bike helmet on all trails. For gravity trails, we strongly recommend a full face helmet and additional protective gear, such as pads and eye protection. Alpine weather can change quickly, with freezing temperatures and even snow possible in summer. Check the forecast before you ride and bring gear for changing conditions. |
Bushfire Safety: Avoid riding Mt Buller and Mt Stirling trails on extreme or Code Red fire danger days. Check the North East district on the CFA website for current information. |
First Aid & Emergencies: First aid staff are available during gravity uplift operations. Report downhill trail injuries to them. For emergencies on cross country or wilderness trails, call 000 and quote the number on the nearest emergency marker. You can also call Resort Management on 03 5777 6077 during opening hours: weekdays 8:30 am–5 pm, weekends and public holidays 10 am–4 pm. |
