Downhill Mountain Biking

Mt Buller's Downhill trails are a gravity rider's dream come true!

Downhill Mountain Biking

Sometimes life is better downhill. Mt Buller’s gravity network drops through the mountain with more than 11km of trails, from smooth, flowing laps to steep and technical descents.

Bring your own bike or hire one on the mountain, grab an uplift pass and make a day of it.

The Trails

Mt Buller’s downhill trails offer a mix of flow, speed, rocks, roots and technical terrain.

International is the mountain’s signature downhill trail. Steep, rough and technical, it is built for experienced riders looking for a serious challenge.

Copperhead takes a more flowing line down the mountain, with banked corners and rolling terrain creating a fast, rhythmic ride.

The gravity network also includes ABOM and Outlaw Express, giving you more ways to descend and plenty of variety between laps.

Always check the trail grade before riding and choose terrain that suits your ability.

The Uplift

Save your legs for the way down. Gravity shuttles and the Northside Express chairlift operate on selected days, carrying you and your bike back to the top of the trails.

Both services are included in a Mountain Biking Gravity Uplift Pass. The service operating will depend on the day you visit, so check the schedule and book your pass before heading up.

Check Trail Conditions

Mountain weather can change quickly and trail conditions may affect what is open. Check the latest trail report before you ride for current conditions, closures and operational updates.

Stay On The Mountain

Stay close to the trails and roll straight into your ride day. Mt Buller has a range of alpine accommodation, from self contained apartments to lodges and hotels, with options for groups, families and weekend riding crews.

Staying overnight gives you more time to explore the network, recover between ride days and enjoy the mountain once the final lap is done.

Refuel Between Laps

Coffee, lunch and post ride refreshments are available on the mountain on selected days. Opening hours vary throughout summer, so check what is open before your visit.

If your ride finishes at Mirimbah, the Mirimbah Store is a handy stop for coffee, food or a cold drink while you wait for your shuttle.

Plan Your Ride

Before heading out, check the trail map, current conditions and uplift schedule. Bring a suitable mountain bike, helmet, protective equipment, water, tools and everything you need to manage changing alpine conditions.

Ride within your ability, follow trail signage and stay off closed trails.
