20cm of fresh snow at Mt Buller

1 July 2016

Mt Buller is covered in a fresh dump of snow this morning, with 20cm falling at the resort in the past 24 hours. Snow bunnies are celebrating this latest snowfall, which saw freezing temperatures bring fresh fluffy powder snow that has mean skiers and boarders can enjoy even more terrain today.

15 lifts are set to turn at Mt Buller today, with the Lydia Lassila Chairlift and the Northside Express opening up fresh new terrain to enjoy for the first time this season. Group Manager of Marketing, Sales and Events for Mt Buller Resort Management, Gillian Dobson, welcomed the snowfalls. “This fresh dump of snow has given us a fantastic top up. The sub-zero temperatures overnight means the snow is light, fresh and fluffy – just the way we love it! It’s perfect timing too, with school holidays already cranking here and more snow forecast in the coming days, it’s the perfect time to join us here on top of the world.

“We’ve been able to open more lifts today with this fresh snow, so we’re excited to hit some of our favourite terrain for the first time this season - we’re definitely getting the skis and boards ready to hit the powder today!”

This latest snowfall has brought Mt Buller’s average depth including manmade snow to 90cm, with very good skiing across the resort.

Mt Buller has been celebrating Kids’ Week all week long, with the resort offering plenty of special events and activities for its littlest visitors. The fun is set to continue into next week, with kids activities, the ‘Bobsled Beats’ night time tobogganing with DJ and lights plus the famous Burton Cattleman’s Rail Jam snowboard event happening next weekend.
