Permits & Licences

Mt Buller has many opportunities for businesses, events and activities. We encourage people to contact us for support on (03) 5777 6077 or info@mtbuller.com.au.

Commercial tourism business

If you are interested in starting a new tourism or recreational business, please contact Alpine Resorts Victoria on 03 5777 6077 or info@mtbuller.com.au. A permit is required. Click here for more information 

Drone flight and filming permits

For the safety of our guests, all drone flights must be pre-approved, comply with Resort and CASA regulations and be flown by a Drone Pilot with a Remote Pilot Licence (RePl) or a Remotely Piloted Aircraft Operator’s Certificate (ReOC).

Pilots that are hobbyists or are only Accredited Operators are not permitted to use a drone within the resort, even if the drone weighs 2kg or less.

Snow season vehicle permits 

All vehicles entering the Mt Buller Village require a permit. The permit application process opens in February and closes in March each year. Click here for more information on vehicle permits. 

Dog Permits

The Alpine Resort (Management) Regulations 2020 regulate domestic animals in Alpine Resorts. Mt Buller residents can apply for a Dog Permit subject to eligibility criteria between April and May each year. Click here for more information.

Dog Permits are not issued for Mt Stirling. No other pets are permitted in either resort under any circumstances and heavy penalties apply.

Accredited assistance animals entering the resorts do not require a permit. Click here for Alpine Resorts Victoria’s Assistance Animal Policy.

​Commercial Helicopter Landings 

Commercial and private helicopters are not permitted to land within the resorts.
