Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour

24 June 2017

The prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour will return to Mt Buller this year on Saturday 24 June for an awe-inspiring presentation of short films and documentaries from around the world highlighting mountain culture, sporting ventures, and the environment.

The world tour takes a deep dive in to 390 communities in 35 countries, showcasing extreme sporting feats including BASE jumping, mountain biking, ice-climbing, skiing and snowboarding; as well as a look in to the spectacular mountain environment and the culture that coincides. Audiences will be captivated by mesmerising cinematography, thought-provoking storylines and adrenalin-inducing action.

The festival is held in Banff, Canada each year where the top 80 films are shared across a weeklong festival. From this, two hours of films are selected and toured around the world for international audiences to enjoy. Mt Buller is the only Australian snow resort to host the Festival, at the resort’s 180-seat cinema.

Gillian Dobson, Group Manager of Marketing, Sales and Events for Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management is looking forward to Banff returning to Mt Buller. “The Banff Mountain Film Festival is such an exciting showcase of thrilling international mountain films, and it’s one of our favourite events on the Mt Buller calendar. There’s always a lot of anticipation in the lead up to the festival – we can’t wait to see what jaw-dropping films will be included in the line-up this year.

“Drinks and snacks will be available, as well as some great prizes up for grabs. Tickets are selling out fast so we encourage people to come along and enjoy the Banff Mountain Film Festival at Australia’s highest cinema here at Mt Buller.”

Films will be shown at the Mt Buller Cinema on Saturday 24 June at 7pm with doors opening from 6:30pm. Further information on the event as well as accommodation options can be found by visiting mtbuller.com.au. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.banffaustralia.com.au.

Off-mountain ticket holders are encouraged to simply present ticket/receipt at resort entry to receive free entry and parking for the duration of the Banff Film Festival screening on Saturday evening. Those travelling up to Mt Buller on the day are encouraged to arrive in-resort no later than 6:00pm in order to take advantage of free transfers up to the Mt Buller Village (last FREE bus from the day carparks is at 6:00pm).

Arrangements have been made for free return transfers back to carparks immediately following the screening.
