Mt Buller welcomes the 2015 Subaru Victorian

26 August 2015

The 2015 Subaru Victorian Interschool’s Snowsports Championships commenced with a bang on Sunday at Mt Buller. Thousands of participants and parents have flocked to the resort to take part in the largest snowsports event in the Southern Hemisphere.

With over 6000 registered entries for this year’s event, the Victorian Interschools continue to introduce kids of all ages to fun of snowsports. Despite some daunting weather forecast last week, Mother Nature has also come to the party with conditions remaining mostly clear over recent days.

Event Manager David Speirs explains “the Subaru Victorian Interschools is all about getting young skiers and snowboarders involved in snowsports and helping them develop a passion for life,”

“This iconic event has been held at Mt Buller for close to 60 years now, introducing snowsports to thousands of young people.”

“Some of these competitors, like current Winter Olympians Anton Grimus and Brodie Summers, have gone on to forge successful careers on snow. For many, the Interschools have been a fun introduction to skiing and snowboarding and sparked a lifelong passion for snowsports,” Speirs said.

The 2015 Subaru Victorian Interschools has seen 175 schools enter across 8 disciplines: Cross Country Classic, Cross Country Relay, Alpine Giant Slalom, Moguls, Ski Cross, Snowboard Cross Snowboard Giant Slalom and the Multiclass event.
The Interschools’ long history started way back in 1958, with Melbourne Grammar School and Scotch College taking to the slopes. Since then the Victorian Interschool’s Snowsports Championships have grown to become one of the premiere School sporting competitions in Victoria.
Mt Buller is the perfect destination for a day trip or extended snowy break. Just three hours from Melbourne, Mt Buller is the most accessible major snow resort in Australia
with over 300 hectares of skiable terrain, more lifts, more runs and more accommodation options than any other Victorian snow resort.

A range of accommodation deals and packages are available right now - visit mtbuller.com.au for further details or call 1800 BULLER.
