Raising funds for local schools

6 July 2026

6 July 2026: As a snowstorm rolled in at Mt Buller last Friday morning 96 eager participants were up before sunrise to compete in the annual Adams Ski & Golf Day, and excited for the fresh snow landing on Bourke Street.

This annual event is much more than an excuse for good friends from across the local community to share a day racing on the snow and heckling one another as they enjoy a good-natured round of golf.

Running for 27-years this multi-sport day is an important fundraiser for Mansfield and Merrijig local schools that assists young people in the region to enjoy skiing and snowboarding as part of their winter sport programs. Since it began in the late 90s the event has contributed over $500,000 to supporting local schools and over $45,000 alone this year.

Roman Pacak at Buller Ski Lifts is one of the event organisers and has participated for many years,

“It’s one of things locals love about our community – you can get in a few runs on the slopes in the morning and wrap the afternoon with a round of golf just a short drive off the hill in the afternoon.”

“Looking over the list of participants you can see a blend of people from Mansfield, Mt Buller, local businesses, ski industry folks, multiple generations of family and friends who take the day to catch up, celebrate the sport we all love and dig deep to give generously in order to share the passion we have for snow future generations of local kids” he added. “Some of these teams have been participating in the day for at least 10 years and it’s a highlight of the winter calendar to get together and support this great local program.”

A total of 24 foursomes took to the short ski course with two runs each to start the day, and top scores were awarded to the closest times between the two starts for each team - with consistency the aim of the game over speed.

Steve Parry in the “Radar raiders” team earned notable mention with just 0.009 seconds difference between his two razor-close ski runs. Overall winners for the ski section were “Wells Fargo”, “XTM does Bluff View Race Club” and “Whitelaw Flynn Lawyers Team 2”.

Teams then rolled down to Mansfield Golf Course to finish the afternoon with 18 holes. Overall winners with the best combined skiing and golfing scores were “Wells Fargo” followed by “Summit Syndicate” and “Radar Raiders”.

The event is actively supported by a mix of local businesses and the snow industry including Adams Real Estate, Buller Ski Lifts, Burton, Anon, Whitelaw Flynn Lawyers, Mansfield Golf Club, XTM, Black Mountain Equipment, Karbon, Performance Golf, Doppelmayr, Pure Snow, Kaboodle Kitchens and Alpine Resorts Victoria along with many Mansfield and Mt Buller retails, restaurants and businesses.

Schools receiving support from the day include Mansfield Secondary College, Mansfield Primary School, Jamieson Primary School, Mansfield Rudolf Steiner School, St Mary’s Catholic Primary School and the Merrijig Primary School with funds raised assisting each schools’ snowsports program.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated on the day, the many local businesses who generous support the program including Buller Ski Lifts and the race & Events Dept who make the race course and timing run smoothly! Local kids in school sports program all thank you!
