Easy to get here, impossible to forget! Mt Buller is 225km from Melbourne airport, and the drive is part of the adventure. Mt Buller is the closest major ski resort to an international airport in Australia.
There are a few options for travelling from the airport to Mt Buller:
Rent a car: Drive to Mansfield (2 hours 15 minutes from airport) or proceed straight to either Merrijig or Mirimbah and rent your wheel chains from one of these stores. Wheel chains are required by law every day of the winter snow season.
Head to the base of the mountain, which is called Mirimbah. It's a good idea to pre-purchase your Resort Entry online at least the day before you arrive, to save yourself some time and money. Print your Resort Entry Dashboard Pass and display it clearly on your front window to drive directly to the car parks. Parking attendants will be there to direct you.
Once parked, you will be able to catch a free shuttle bus up to the main Mt Buller village.
Please be aware of wildlife as you near Mt Buller, Kangaroos, wallabies, deer, wombats and other animals are often on and beside the road. Slow down and be alert especially during dawn/dusk and at night.

On average, late August to early September is when Mt Buller reports the deepest snow cover on the majority of runs. This period does fall partly within peak season, so it's best to plan ahead and book early.
Mt Buller's Snow Guarantee gives you the confidence to book your snow holiday. It's a money-back guarantee on all prepaid participating accommodation, lift ticket, rental, lesson packages, toboggans park entries, and applies if there is insufficient snow cover.
For the best value, visit early and late in the season when there are special offers and savings like Kids Stay Free (under age 15).
Conditions vary season to season, and weather changes quickly on the mountain at anytime of the year. Keep an eye on the snow reports so you are ready for the conditions.
Spring at Mt Buller can deliver good skiing and boarding with late season discounts to sweeten the experience! It's often lovely weather with longer days, more sunshine and mild temperatures, perfect for First Timer's and young kids.

Mt Buller is ideal for beginner skiers and snowboarders offering gentle learning terrain and a world-class team of instructors to get you started on the snow safely. Learn to ski on the main beginner run - Bourke Street, in front of the Ski & Snowboard School. Burnt Hut is also a great option when the snow cover allows. See you on the slopes!

Yes, Resort Entry & Parking is required for cars entering Mt Buller and Mt Stirling during the snow season. Pre-book your Resort Entry online and print the dashboard pass ahead of time to skip the line at the Mirimbah gate and drive straight on up!
Don't forget you'll need to carry wheel chains to enter the resort during the declared snow season.
Staying overnight? You'll also need to book a Ride Share, to transfer you and your luggage from the overnight carpark to your accommodation. The Carpark Shuttle bus does not connect to the overnight carparks.
