Mt Buller hosting National Interschools to 2031

7 April 2026: Snow Australia and Mt Buller are delighted to confirm the Australian Interschools Snowsport Championships will be held at Mt Buller in 2027, 2029 and 2031.

The National Interschools Championships are shared between Victoria and NSW with each state hosting on alternate years. Affectionately known as the “Nationals,” the Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships are a highlight of the school snowsports calendar each season drawing the best school-aged athletes for an exciting week of snowsports competition.

Mt Buller has proudly hosted the Victorian Interschools event at Mt Buller since its inception in 1958 and several Australian Interschools Snowsport Championships in recent years. Significantly, 2027 will mark the 70^th anniversary of Interschools at Mt Buller.

“The Australian Interschools is an event our Mt Buller stakeholders and alpine community are extremely proud to host. It really does ‘take a village’ to support these important events for the schools, the athletes and the families who participate,” said Noel Landry General Manager of Buller Ski Lifts.

“The extraordinary success of the 2025 Australian Interschools is a shining example of what Mt Buller’s event, race department, freestyle, mountain operations, snowmaking, guest services and wider resort team can deliver. This event is large and complex and involves everyone in resort including operators in the village and out on the ski area,” he added.

The Australian Interschools brings together 1800 competitors from 340+ schools that have qualified from their state championships to compete for individual, team and school championship titles.

The positive impact of the event extends far beyond the excitement on the race courses, contributing significantly to the tourism economy for each alpine community and the surrounding area as hundreds of skiers and snowboarders stay for a minimum of 1-2 nights.

The 2026 Australian Interschools will be hosted in Perisher NSW in 2026.

The Mogul Ski World Victorian Interschools Snowsports Championships at Mt Buller are scheduled for 16-23 August 2026 and the Cross Country Championships on 2 August 2026.
