Are you looking for a seasonal, lifestyle opportunity to work and play at beautiful Mount Buller—while utilising your skills to make a genuine difference to every guest’s stay.
Kandahar is a members’ lodge owned and operated by the Ski Club of Victoria. This 60-bed, 14-room lodge is located in the heart of Mount Buller, and we are currently seeking Lodge Managers to join our team for the 2026 snow season.
This role is ideally suited to a couple, with flexibility to share responsibilities and balance operational duties across the lodge. We are also open to hybrid opportunities within our broader organisation (see https://www.mtbuller.com.au/winter/resort-info/job-search for more opportunities at The Ski Club of Victoria), allowing additional roles to be filled where skills and experience align.
Kandahar has a loyal and engaged member following during weekends and peak periods and caters for school groups and organised stays during mid-week periods. Kandahar is supported by the broader SCV team, who manage bookings, guest enquiries and communications. This structure allows Lodge Managers to focus on presentation, daily coordination and ensuring the lodge consistently meets exceptional standards, with additional housekeeping support provided during peak periods.
What will a normal day look like at Kandahar?
No two days are quite the same, but a typical day will include:
- Welcoming members, guests, and school groups and ensuring a positive lodge experience
- Overseeing daily lodge operations, accommodation standards, and common areas.
- Preparing and turning over rooms to a high standard, ensuring check-out rooms are cleaned, serviced, and ready for incoming guests
- Making up beds, refreshing linen, restocking amenities, and ensuring bathrooms and shared spaces are spotless and presentation-ready
- Managing lodge inventory and supplies.
- Handling guest enquiries, check-outs, and issue resolution
- Supporting administrative tasks including compliance, and coordination with our Member and Accommodation Services team.
- Ensuring lodge standards, safety, and compliance requirements are met
- Creating a warm, friendly lodge atmosphere that reflects Kandahar’s strong club community culture
About the role
This is a full-time, salaried seasonal position, operating seven days per week during the winter snow season (generally from mid June through to September, dependent on snow conditions).
The workload reflects the responsibility of running a 60-bed lodge during peak alpine season, and remuneration is aligned accordingly. The role offers autonomy and flexibility, particularly for couples sharing responsibilities, allowing you to manage your time effectively while enjoying the Mount Buller lifestyle.
What we’re looking for
- A couple or two individuals with experience in lodge management, accommodation, hospitality or a real passion for the industry.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Confident communication and people-management skills
- A proactive, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving ability
- A genuine enjoyment of being around people, including families and children
- Friendly, outgoing, and naturally welcoming — someone who thrives on being a great host
- Strong hospitality skills with a focus on guest experience and presentation
- A positive, can-do attitude and the resilience to push on during busy peak periods
- Ability to work autonomously in a seasonal alpine environment
What we offer
- A unique seasonal lifestyle opportunity on Mount Buller
- A couple-friendly role with flexibility to share responsibilities
- Hybrid opportunities within the Ski Club of Victoria where suitable
- Housekeeping support to assist with lodge operations when it gets really busy.
- Accommodation provided (details discussed during recruitment)
- Competitive seasonal remuneration
- Support from a well-established alpine organisation
