All vehicles entering Mt Buller or Mt Stirling resorts are required to pay a resort entry fee that goes towards the costs of essential services on the mountains.
Do I need wheel chains?
Wheel chain requirements are decided on a daily basis and are determined by weather forecasts and existing road conditions. Chain requirements may vary between 2WD and 4WD/AWD vehicles, as each of these types of cars react differently to snow and icy road conditions. The Wheel Chain Declaration is updated at 5pm for the next day.
NOTE - a number of cars are unable to fit chains in accordance with their user manual, plus some tyre sizes may be inappropriate for snow chains (wide and/or low profile tyres are often difficult to fit).
Where do I hire wheel chains?
You need to have hired wheel chains before you arrive at the Mirimbah entry gates (at the bottom of the mountain). There are many hire outlets located along the way at Mansfield and Merrijig.
What if I can’t print my Dashboard pass?
If you can’t print your dashboard pass, have a copy of your purchase confirmation on hand and stop at the resort entry gates when you arrive (at the bottom of the mountain), our resort entry team will be able to print your pass for a $5 fee.
What if I am renting a vehicle and do not know the vehicle registration?
Please stop at the entry gate (at the bottom of the mountain) when you arrive, show your purchase confirmation to our resort entry team who will record the vehicle registration and print your pass. $5 printing fee applies.
Why does my vehicle registration need to be correct?
Mt Buller uses licence plate recognition software. Putting in your correct vehicle details ensures our system recognizes your vehicle, checks you have a valid entry pass and stops you from receiving a fine
Where do I park?
The carparks on Mt Buller are located 1-2kms from the main Mt Buller village. Our parking attendants will direct you to the closest available parking space, from here you can either head straight on to the slopes via the Northside Express chairlift or hop on a free shuttle bus to take you to the village
All overnight visitors are required by law to carry wheel chains.
A small number cars can not fit chains in accordance with the vehicle’s user manual. Please check your manufacturers guidelines before hiring chains. Alternative transport options to the resort are available.
Overnight carparks are located approximately 1-2kms below the Mt Buller Resort. Carparks on Mt Buller are numbered from 1-11 take note of your carpark number when you arrive to help your ride share driver drop you at the right location when you are leaving
How do I get to my accommodation from the carparks?
Guests will need to travel to their accommodation via the ride share service. Tickets can be purchased online with overnight parking.
Can I hop on the free shuttle bus?
The overnight carparks are located further away from the day car parks and therefore overnight visitors are unable to access the free shuttle bus.
I’m staying overnight do I need to use the ride share?
All overnight guests to Mt Buller must take a ride share from the car parks to their accommodation. To save, buy your ride share fares online before midnight the day before.
What times do ride share operate?
Ride shares operate 7 days, from 7am - midnight. Out of hours times must be booked, and incur an additional charge of $100.
Are there baggage limits
Each person using the ride share service is permitted to have 2 large bags, 1 ski/snowboard bag or set of skis or snowboard, 1 set of ski or snowboard boots 1 carry-on small item such as a day pack or handbag. All excess luggage will be charged at $10.00 per piece
Can I buy a single trip?
One way tickets to/from the overnight carparks are available to purchase. Guest can also purchase intra-village shuttles to take you locations around the village.
Should I buy a vehicle season pass?
The vehicle season pass gives access to both Mt Buller and Mt Stirling throughout the entire snow season, so it’s a great option for people who make frequent trips to the resort
Can I use the same pass for multiple vehicles?
The seasons pass can only be allocated to one vehicles registration,it is not transferable
Do I need to prebook entry?
Due to Covid-19 restrictions vehicles with a season pass may need to prebook entry to help manage capacity restrictions throughout the season (no additional charge)
How do I collect my vehicle season pass?
Seasons passes will be mailed to your specified address prior to 28 May 2021. All passes purchased after 28 May 2021 are to be collected from Mirimbah Entry Gate (at the bottom of the mountain).
Will there be an All-Resorts pass this year?
No, due to capacity limitations there will not be an All-Resorts pass for 2021

It’s easy to drive to Mt Buller. There are different requirements for DAY and OVERNIGHT visitors so have read through to get all the info you need.
Coaches are a practical transport option to the snow, and provide great value.
Guests can fly into Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) and transfer to Mt Buller by coach, or avoid the road altogether and arrive by helicopter.
